Haiku:  ˈhīˌko͞o, noun, plural: haikus, a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world. Origin: Japanese, contracted form of ‘haikai no ku ‘meaning light verse.
